What I discovered was that she was on two different blood pressure medications along with an antihistamine.  She quit taking the antihistamine but her memory problems continued.

So I took a closer look at the two blood pressure medicines Amlodipine 5mg and Atenolol 50mg that she was taking and found this 15-year-old case study of interest: http://smj.sma.org.sg/3702/3702cr2.pdf

After reading about this patient, I continued by search and discovered more reports of memory loss in patients using Atenolol:

Beta blockers and memory loss?

Atenolol does cause major memory problems

As of today, I have been unable to convince her to discuss this issue with her doctor. It pains be deeply to see her continue to suffer from confusion and basically no short-term memory.  You can have a discussion with her and 5 minutes later she has no memory of the discussion. I will update this post if there is any progress in my efforts to have her address this with her doctor.
