Much of my New Years day was spent registering domain names for my new project. I registered approximately 10 domain names related to Unitarian Universalism. My idea is to start with a blog, then build a community forum, and ultimately found a “brick and mortar” church and mission. There is much work to be done, but I have the first site under construction at uuChurch.com. Updates to follow.

A Sunday Adventure

On Sunday, the family and I will be taking a trip to Newberry, SC to visit the Clayton Memorial Church, a UU (Unitarian Universalist) church with a rich and interesting 100-year history.

The building was constructed by two brothers in 1905 and It still sits among the fields of the original family farm. For many years, church members received spiritual sustenance from circuit riding preachers who made their rounds on horseback.

I just discovered that The Dalai Lama has a website. This looks like a super resource for learning about His Holiness. Is it possible that he will one day open an account on Twitter? That would be awesome! Oh, I almost forget the website is http://www.dalailama.com.

uStream.TV Domain Protocol

Sam Walton was well known for “spying” on his competition. He would frequent his competitor’s stores and borrow ideas like, item placement, lighting, shelving height, etc. Throughout history there have been countless examples of highly successful businessmen using this tactic to gain advantage.

In my view, the uStream.TV domain registration protocol should be taught in every domain university on the planet.

Backup2 = uStreamTV.com (..redirects to mainsite)

Why? Reasons:

1. Owner can change redirect order at anytime for any reason.
2. All leakage will result in traffic directed to mainsite.
3. Site owner totally owns and controls NAME and BRAND.
4. Offers same unique branding advantages of .TV without inherent risks.
5. If Tuvalu pulls a Seychelles (or worse), owner’s nuts stay intact.

It’s a brilliantly simple strategy that only applies in cases where the .TV site owner hopes to achieve peak success at the highest possible levels.

AdSense for Domains

This is the most excited I’ve been about domain parking in a long while. Google has just introduced Google AdSense for Domains. This service allows you to “park” a domain with Google and earn adsense revenue from the traffic. This is done without any need for development. I have just moved my first domain to the program and will report my results later this month.

Embarq Network Outage

The Southeastern network outage effecting Embarq’s Carolina customers (and beyond?) has apparently been resolved. I could ping regional DNS servers but all outside IP traffic was dead. We were down here in South Carolina for about 2 hours.

PHP Studies & Coffee

My PHP studies are now concluding for the evening. I have reached the section on “Associative Arrays” and decided my brain needed a break. Now it’s time for more coffee as I prepare for a night of .TV drop catching under the Southern moon.
