PostSeason.TV – Dot TV Joins the Majors!

MicroGuy | October 28, 2009

I was just kicking back watching the World Series when the announcer directed viewers to PostSeason.TV for additional coverage of the series. It’s a redirect to a .COM, but still not bad considering the amount of exposure it will bring to .TV.

According to my estimates, at least 10 million people just heard that plug for Dot-TV. :)

Tuvalu Regains Control of .TV

MicroGuy | August 8, 2009

Recently discovered documents reveal that Tuvalu has regained control of its .TV domain.

This means that Tuvalu now appears to control wholesale renewal pricing and may also explain the recent surge in premium renewal pricing at Enom. Unlike the original 2000 contract with the .TV Corporation, this new contract appears to be little more than a merchandising deal whereby Tuvalu regains authoritative control.  “In January 2002 .tv Corp. became a wholly owned subsidiary of VeriSign Corp., which bought it for $45 million in an agreement by which Tuvalu maintains control of the management of its domain name.” – Source Encyclopedia.com.

Let’s just hope they don’t take notes from the .SC folks anytime soon.

PHP Studies & Coffee

MicroGuy | December 28, 2008

My PHP studies are now concluding for the evening. I have reached the section on “Associative Arrays” and decided my brain needed a break. Now it’s time for more coffee as I prepare for a night of .TV drop catching under the Southern moon. Peace be to all Cybertravelers, and may you catch that perfect wave, as you ride the surf of the global binary ocean known as “The Internet”.

Bungee Fun

MicroGuy | November 7, 2008

Well I’m pumped about the Ninety Six Bungee Festival in my home town. There is a small village about 5 miles to the north where the locals still practice their ancient craft. Each year, a prize is awarded to the jumper who hits his head the hardest! Here’s a video from last year’s event.

Open Letter to Tuvalu

MicroGuy | October 31, 2008

I would like to offer my services as needed to setup free wireless for everyone on your island. I would also be willing to act as Minister of Dot TV for your people. I will agree to donate my entire first year’s salary to build an island computer school. When I’m not doing the people’s work, I will provide free computer instruction to the island children. This is a genuine heartfelt offer and I sincerely plan to visit this summer so that we can discuss this matter further. Until then, God bless Tuvalu.

National Anthem of Dot TV

MicroGuy |

This is actually the National Anthem of Tuvalu. I think it’s a nice tune and I may be making a remix for Dot TV fans in the near future. In the mean time, click play and enjoy!

Tuvalu Travel Guide

MicroGuy |

I’m looking for a tour guide to stay with me during my trip to Tuvalu. The candidate must live in Tuvalu and speak English fluently. My trip is planned for the summer of 2009. I will be staying on the island for approximately one week meeting with local officials. Please contact me using the link above if you would like consideration. A college language student is preferred.

Chief Technical Officer

MicroGuy | October 30, 2008

I’m currently seeking the position of CTO with a Web development company. My salary requirements are $225K per year. That’s less than my current hourly rate based on a 40-hour week. I must stipulate that my offer is good only if the Tuvaluans decline my offer to serve as Dot TV minister. The ideal staff would consist of at least 5 talented, motivated, young people that are team oriented. I have a strong conviction that all network servers and bandwidth be in-house and not colocated. Everything else is negotiable.

A Pile of Premium .TVs

MicroGuy | October 12, 2008

Things are not looking good for Dot TV these days. I could fill this entire blog with numerous reasons as to why the extension is failing. But for all intents and purposes, the premium drop ratio is the best method for tracking it’s health.

Dot TV is the only TLD that has premium domains set aside by Verisign. The best domain names are available for lease at a premium. There are currently over 50,000 of these domains available for registration. When a domain is registered it comes off the pile, and when someone decides not to renew, it’s tossed back on.

If the pile gets bigger it’s bad news. If the pile gets smaller it’s good news. On the year, there have been an additional 356 premium domains added back to the pile.

Saturday TV Drops?

MicroGuy | September 20, 2008

There are well over 200 dot tv domains dropping tonight. However, it’s what I call a dry list. There is nothing there appealing to me. If I had to pick my two favorites, it would have to be PECAN.TV and SURFACED.TV. Both worth at least $100.00. If I get a chance, I may take another look at the list later today.
