Well, as much as it pains me to say this, I have to admit this blogger is correct. GoDaddy goes to great lengths to impress prospective clients that its servers are anything but slow. Sure they talk about 99% up time but that's all relative.

It's relative to the fact that, even if your servers are up and running, the slowness of those servers is counterproductive to all that great up time. It's relative to one's definition of up time. When I was in the Networked Office Systems biz, if our devices scanned or printed at a speed of 35 pages per minute versus the advertised speed of 110 page per minute (for example) then, from the customers' perspective, those devices were not considered as functioning properly and, ergo. were DOWN.

It pains me to say this because, first, as with Parsons I am a Marine Vietnam combat Veteran. It pains me because, having this common sacred experience I trusted this company to espouse the same principles and values that the Marine Corps did , , , does, beyond and deeper than the Honor, Courage, Commitment that were our basic guiding principals. You see, in the Marine Corps, they don't TEACH you to take "ownership" but rather EXPECT you to take ownership.

Here this post finds this issue (slowness, app hangs, freezes, drops, error after error, etc, etc) still prevalent almost ONE YEAR after MicroGuy's initial post and yet, GoDaddy is "not having this problem with anyone else."

I would hope that, after a letter to Parsons (unfortunately, at this point, US Mail, Registered with Return Receipt), these issues would be investigated and action taken - QUICKLY!

GoDaddy's prices aren't any cheaper than the other Hosting companies. For instance, our former hosting company (one of the oldest) DID have insanely higher domain registration fees toward the end of our relationship, BUT when purchased with other items we needed, pricing was VERY comparable to GoDaddy and, quite honestly, in many cases a little less (because of the volume of products and services we had been purchasing).

Remember this though, every company has its issues. Some will step up to the plate and "TAKE OWNERSHIP" (vs. pointing the finger at the customer . . . GoDaddy!) and some refuse to admit to ANY problems or that they could be doing wrong. I am hoping that Parson's company will be the former, not the latter.

Some people might think that he's kidding about 365,411 websites on one server. But seriously, if you have godaddy shared hosting, go here and try your domain's ip: http://www.domaintools.com/reverse-ip/
